TDSO Cats Eye Glass Dark Blue & Gold Percentile Dice
This is a standard 16mm 10 sided Percentile Dice.
These are carved from Cat’s Eye Glass and are unlike any other dice and each set is individual. The numbers are laser engraved and hand painted with ink.
These are made for us at TheDiceShopOnline and are the best we have ever seen and are cut to a very high standard each set, and dice is unique and vary slightly from the picture.
Material Properties
Cat's Eye is a manmade, synthetic glass gemstone material; however, it didn't start out that way. It was a material manufactured for the telecommunications industry - photo optics glass.
Tiny hair-like strands of pure glass are drawn from glass rods by a high tech, fibre drawing tower. Some of the glass fibres are more than a mile long and are wound onto spools. The strands are used in telecommunications to make photo optic cable that transmits light signals at the speed of light over long distances.
Thousands of these hair-sized strands are pressed together under heat and pressure to form thick plates of fibre optic glass. Artisans use this special chatoyant glass to cut and polish beautiful jewellery, and art objects, in this case dice.
Cat's Eye glass displays chatoyancy, a property in some rocks and minerals where luminous streaks appear long-ways across the mineral.
This is a truly beautiful material and very resilient for gamers.
